Mitchell Lachamn (2/17/2011) Muscle Beach closed in 1959. Around 1958, Mr. Strohl visited a few times, did some slow chins at the Venice weight area, and disappeared. In my experience, from 1954 until the demise of Muscle Beach, that was that was the only visitor from Muscle Beach that used Venice for a work out. He was of the great ones, and seemed like a gentleman.
Dick Stark (12/18/2010) I remember meeting Doug Strohl at Muscle Beach in 1953. He was a friend of a friend so we got along well. Nice guy.
